  1. Also, in the alternate version below the character pages, they all have masks that represent how they interact with others/society/etc.
On one side, Paimon has a feline-like mask(ready to pounce to protect while also apt at seduction and manipulation), Laura has a plague doctor-like mask(she spreads death, but could also be seen as the figure head(for Dantalian) procuring black herbs to humans and demons alike to fight off the Black Death).

On the other side, Elizabeth has a mask with the principal purpose of hiding the face and any facial expression(just like how she hides her true feelings from others, instead wearing a cruel yet emotionless face-like mask in front of others), while Barbaros has a jester-like mask(since she doesn’t hold back her words, acts sometimes akin to a buffoon, but is actually doing it on purpose to manipulate people and their perception of her).

      1. -_- I never said she did. To procure something to someone else, means handing it to them. I was saying that she might used as the public figurehead that people think is giving them the cure.

    1. I did a little research on this and will break it down.
The colour red obviously symbolizes love and passion. Yellow means trust, blue means peace and white means purity and innocence.
Elisabeth is holding Daffodils, Daffodils are a symbol of holding someone else in high regard. Daffodils are also a sign that spring has arrived and “winter is dead”.
Laura is holding a Hydrangea with common blue violets surrounding. First discovered in Japan, the name hydrangea comes from the Greek “hydor,” meaning water, and “angos,” meaning jar or vessel. This roughly translates to “water barrel,” referring to the hydrangea’s need for plenty of water and its cup-shaped flower. Violets are wildflowers that symbolism Loyalty, Faithfulness and Devotion.
In the separate image that seems to be the CD case, Laura is holding a Blue Daisy, the daisy symbolizes purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity.
Paimon has a Chrysanthemum a symbol of the sun and cheerfulness, the Japanese consider the orderly unfolding of the chrysanthemum’s petals to represent perfection, and Confucius once suggested they be used as an object of meditation.
Lastly, Barbatos is difficult but my guess is blue orchids which represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility.and white wildflowers, which are innocence and purity.
The symbolism rather acutely reflects the characters personality and i find it’s attention to details like this that make DD so very enjoyable.
They’re all wearing wedding dresses and surrounded by sunflowers which symbolize long life, good luck and is considered very auspicious. It’s yellow color signifies vitality and intelligence. It’s a symbol of happiness too. Considering the authors love of juxtaposition i expect much violence.

I think i’ll abstain from breaking down the symbolism of the masks i spent an hour doing this much.

      1. First of all, thank you so much for going out of your way to research this and sharing what you found with us.^^
Now, as for the “holding someone in high regard” meaning of Elizabeth’s flower, I think we can correctly assume that it’s about how she thinks of Dantalian.
For Laura’s flowers, I think that the hydrangea’s need for plenty of water is linked to how she’s in her greatest mental growth phase yet, and that she will rise and shine under the plentiful attention, care and education from Dantalian and Lapis.

  2. So what will this mean for “Your and My Asylum”? Far as i remember, you said you would do “Dungeon Defense” Immediately when it came out, so you will put “Your and My Asylum” on hold till your done with the new volume? Was just wondering if you were planning on finishing volume one of “Your and My Asylum” before going over to “Dungeon Defense” again.

    1. I remembered Shal said he will need sometime to read at least 1-2 times before translate it
so I think he will finish Your and My Asylum before DD vol.4 TL … maybe :3

    1. Well… Roughly like this

Buy books > author get richer > rich author is happy author > author can focus on writing more > more stimulus on the economy > rothschild rule the world

    1. 1- You do realise that you’ve commented on dec 10, and yet you ask if it will be released on dec 9?
2- Did you even read the post or did you only read the title of the post? Here’s a quote: “Volume 4 will be released on December 21st.”

    2. Ah no, wait, I just realized what you actually meant. Maybe. If you meant the drama cd-like thing, then according to the picture, it does seem like it did come out on dec 9, but Shal said he/she won’t be translating it.

  3. Can’t wait! Hopefully you can shove out new content & translations quick, because I am absolutely in love with this LN. This book has never made me want to learn another so much, so thank you so much for translating these!

    1. So it seems that the protagonist is completely trapped regardless of his situation. It makes me wonder if Laura is attempting to save him by working with Paimon?

      1. There’s some iffy translations here and there, but a good portion is right.
(Elizabeth’s line is actually supposed to say that Dantalian is her only destiny and Laura is just a 3rd party)
